Ch.4

Once I shut the door to Dr. Ko's "hideout", I stopped and looked at my new arm. Despite the cold metal underneath the plastic skin covering, I kept thinking that it's actually my real arm! Malcolm must have been a brave robot, and to know that I have a piece of him with me, or attached, is awesome! But I know I'm going to have to keep quite about this, if anyone finds out about my "approve" arm there is no telling what will happen. But…
I shook my head; this is no time to start worrying! I step away from the door and walked to my house. Wait, I don't remember which path I took to get here. I kneel to the ground of my frustration and looked up to the sky, but instead of looking up to a clear blue sky, I see a straggly line of smoke was tainting the sky. I realized that the smoke was coming from my house. I rose to my feet and followed the trail of smoke.
It was not long before I came to a clearing, in the distance was a dark, smoky pile of ruble. I ran up toward the ruble and my heart dropped. My house was completely burned down, the walls, the roof, my mother and father's room, my room, even the board that smashed my right arm lying a few yard away from the once standing door. All was burned. My eyes weld up with tears.
I herd a roaring sound behind me. It was the engine of a car. A man in a fancy outfit stepped out of the car.
'Ms. KIkI, the governor was getting worried about you,' he said. Figures. 'Come, he wishes to see you,' the man opened the door to the car, which was a sign for me to get in the car. My tears stopped and I got in the car.
I sat in the back seat, I was not to conferrable with strangers, from the government or not. It was a long drive, watching tree after tree zoom by. I wasn't surprised that the man didn't ask me any questions about why no one could find me, normally guys that are assigned this kind of stuff are not to have any contact with the person their looking for. I wonder if my parents are there.
Once we arrived, I was escorted to the head office were the governor was. I opened the heavy door to the office but it was not as heavy as it usually is. I guess Malcom's arm gave me a boost in strength too. The governor's office was just like a regular office a few chairs, a desk, a couple of pictures, and a few other things. Behind the desk was the type of chair you would see the president sitting in, but instead of the president was a man in his late 60's reading over some documents. Obviously, he wasn't paying us any attention, guess he was starting to lose a few of his senses. My escorted made a little cough that you use when you're trying to get someone's attention. He finally discarded his eyes from the paper work and looked up at us.
'You requested to see Ms. KIkI, governor,' my escorted said.
'Oh, yes, sorry for the delay, this is my last year being governor of this country. How are you doing KIkI, we sure did have a tough time finding you, please sit down,' the governor said. I sat in the chair it was softer that I remember.
'I'm sorry governor, I-,' I was cut off.
'I've already told you KIkI, call me Monty.' He interrupted
I felt my eyes roll. 'Fine, Monty, do you know were my mother and father are?'
Monty's face turned grim,' I'm sorry, KIkI, but they did not survived the fire, I'm sorry.'

Here come the water works again. My scoter handed me a handkerchief. I took it and told my self to suck it up. A few minutes of silence passed by.
'KIkI, as you know, your house was completely destroyed in the fire,' Monty said braking the silence, 'we plan to rebuild it, but it will take some time.'
'So were will I be staying?' I asked
'You will be transported to the city of Metropolis.'
'Metropolis? Isn't that the place were trees seem to be in a different dimension and with more robots with humans?'
'Yes, once you arrive you will be escorted to the Metropolis Police Department and from there you will be assigned a robot to show you throughout Metropolis.'
'A robot? But Sir I -,' I was cut off.
'KIkI I insist, it's for the best, were not sure how your house caught on fire or if it was caused by one of our rival countries. Since Metropolis is one of our closest allies, your robot that you will be like your 'body guard', sort of say.' He interrupted.
'Fine,' I had gotten mighty annoyed, Metropolis was a place were people use robots to do what ever. Guess I've developed a new respect for them.
Monty reached in to one of the desk drawers and pulled out a ticket.
'Here is a ticket for Metropolis the train is scheduled to leave at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning you can stay at the train station for the night.'
'o.k.,' I took the train ticket from Monty and left the room. Once I left the building I walked to the bus stop down the street. It was about five minutes before it arrived. Luckily, I had some change in my pocket. There weren't many other people on the bus, there was one blond hair girl sitting behind the bus driver trying to pear in the mirror. I sat three seats from the front, my stop would probably be last. I had to tell Dr. Ko about me being temporarily transported to Metropolis. I glanced at the ticket with a picture of a train and with the word 'Metropolis' written on it. I wonder how Dr. Ko will get to Metropolis. About 30 minutes later every one had gotten off the bus, my stop was next. I continued fiddling around with the ticket and noticed that it was slightly thicker than the average ticket. There were two tickets stuck together! Carefully, I slipped my finger in between them and pulled them apart, the destination for the ticket said: Metropolis. This was great! Now Dr. Ko could come with me! I felt like screaming for joy, but I didn't.
Finally my stop came, I waited for the bus to vanish from sight before I continued my journey. It was starting to get dark, I soon found the path, I still saw my blood stains on the ground. I found Ko's place in a matter of minutes. I knocked on the door, no answer, I got the same thing the next three knocks. I placed my hand on the handle of the door, it was opened.
'Ko, were are you?' my voice echoed in the halls. The halls were long and black, but one room stood out, with a faint lit of light. I grind, it was Dr. Ko asleep who was asleep, who looked he was reading some kind of doctor book, there were a lot of doctor books on the shelf behind him. I shook his shoulder.
'Ko, wake up.' I got annoyed… 'WAKE UP!'
Finally he woke up, 'KIkI, I was wondering when you were coming back.'
'It was a long bus route.'
'What's the news with the governor?'
'He's transporting me to Metropolis so they can rebuild my house.'
'Metropolis? That's out of the country, how are you going to get there?'
'The governor gave me a train ticket. He said that it would be the safest place for me to go. Although, I didn't approve of the misuse of robots there.'
'I need to a monitor on your arm, how do you suppose I can get their?'
'Well, it just so happens that their was another ticket attached to the back of the first one,' I pulled the two tickets and handed Ko one of them, 'see, now you can come with me.'
'This is good news,' he grinned.
'The train leaves at 8:00 tomorrow morning so don't be late. I'll be staying at the train station tonight, but if you're with me it may cause suspicion. So how will I know you?'
'Don't worry I'll be there, and I'll lit you know.'
'o.k.' glances at watch, 'GHAA! The train station is about to close! I'll see you later Ko!' I started to run but Ko stopped me. 'What?'
'Take it easy with that arm, I still need to run some test and improve its composite.'
'o.k.' and I ran off.
